When Does the COD BO7 Beta Start?
The COD BO7 Beta is here. Early access begins on October 2 for players who pre-order or have Game Pass. The open beta unlocks for everyone on October 5 and runs until October 8. Preloads started on October 1 across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
How to Access the Beta
Once you’re set, download the files from your platform’s store. The beta is large, so start early if possible.
There are three ways to get in:
- Pre-order Black Ops 7 digitally.
- Redeem a beta code from a retailer.
- Play with an active Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass subscription.
What the Beta Includes
The BO7 Beta offers a mix of Multiplayer and Zombies Survival. Six maps are included, with a staggered rollout across the test period. Multiplayer runs classic 6v6 setups, while Zombies lets you test the new Vandorn Farm survival map. Both modes are designed to show off Treyarch’s refined systems.
First Impressions
A player spent hours in the beta’s multiplayer, and the first takeaway is pace. Black Ops 7 feels more tactical than Black Ops 6. Omnimovement is still here, letting you sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. But it’s balanced. Tactical Sprint has been removed as default, and recoil feels tuned better. Matches are aggressive but more controlled.
Maps stick to the three-lane formula. They prioritize sightlines and clean flow, drawing inspiration from Black Ops 2. New Systems

Wall jumps are another addition. You can chain up to three jumps across vertical surfaces. It’s not as extreme as wall-running from Advanced Warfare, but it adds mobility tricks. These systems combine to make combat feel modern while still grounded.
Zombies Survival Mode
The beta also gives a small slice of Zombies. Vandorn Farm is the survival map. It’s part of the larger Ashes of the Damned map coming at launch. Zombies feels like a return to round-based roots, but with new augments and perks. Perk-a-Colas, ammo mods, and field upgrades are all present. It’s familiar, but the setting and pace keep it fresh.
Progression and Rewards
Everything you do in the beta adds XP. Progression carries across Zombies and Multiplayer. Rewards unlocked during the beta carry over to the full release. The final reward is the Beta Survivor weapon blueprint at level 30. If you hit that cap, you’ll have gear ready for launch on November 14.
How the Beta Compares to BO6
Black Ops 6 was fast, chaotic, and sometimes unbalanced. Black Ops 7 slows things down slightly. The movement still feels dynamic, but you get more control. Scorestreaks have bite again, and maps are stronger at launch. It’s less about raw speed and more about tactical positioning. For veterans, it feels like a step forward.
Experience So Far
The COD BO7 Beta feels polished for a pre-release build. Black Ops 7 Multiplayer is sharp, Zombies is fun, and systems like Overclock give it a modern edge.
