How To Find Grand Escunite Monster Hunter Wilds4 min read

The Razzle Dazzle side quest in Monster Hunter Wilds pushes one of the most tricky parts. When you have to track down the Grand Escunite.Â
It is a glowing creature that takes a lot of time to even track it. It is required by Kanya at the Scarlet Forest Base Camp. You need the right bait and a bit of patience to find it.
If you tried your luck and failed or have no idea how to proceed tracking the Grand Escunite, you’re at the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about finding and catching the elusive Grand Escunite in Monster Hunter Wilds.
What is Grand Escunite?
In Monster Hunter Wilds, the Grand Escunite is a hard-to-find Endemic Life species that only lives within the Scarlet Forest.Â
It has a metallic blue shell and glowing tentacles and it’s bigger and more reflective than normal Escunites. Thus, you can see it clearly, especially at night.

You need to catch one as the last action of the Razzle Dazzle side quest, which won’t be unlocked until you’ve completed Kanya’s first four fishing quests.
Best Time and Conditions to Find Grand Escunite
You can locate Grand Escunite under any weather condition, but ideally, the best time to hunt them is in the “Plenty” season and at night. Hunting at this time can increase your chances of finding them.
When you encounter difficulties in spawn rates, you can rest at a closeby pop-up camp in order to alter the in-game time to night or evening. The luminescence of the Grand Escunite is most convenient to detect under low light conditions.

Grand Escunite Locations in Scarlet Forest
If you have already established a pop-up camp in Area 8, fast traveling simplifies the search.
There are three most important points to search for Grand Escunite:
- Area 8: Underground Lake – Located behind a waterfall. It is the main fishing location.
- Area 12 to Area 13 – Between these areas, deep water usually contains multiple Grand Escunites.
- Area 17: Great Lake Shore – Another possible location, but lower spawn rates.
How to Catch Grand Escunite
Grand Escunites swim in a very odd manner. They have their point of shell forward, yet bite with their tentacles. To catch them, you need precision with timing. You must wait because they are slow and reluctant but will bite eventually.
- You can apply Tentacle Jig Bait: This bait is offered by Kanya and is best suited for Escunite and Grand Escunite.
- Try to place the Bait: Cast the jig as near as possible to the Grand Escunite.Â
- Jiggle and Wait: Slowly bring the bait by drawing down the stick or pressing “S” on the PC. Now, reel in slowly when the tentacles latch onto the lure.
