Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is the latest edition in the long-running Call of Duty franchise. It’s supposed to be a reasonably traditional Call of Duty experience. It will include a blockbuster single-player narrative, the fan-favorite multiplayer experience, and a co-op option. We will also experience the reintroduction of round-based Zombies for this sequel.
This new campaign is set between the events of Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 4. Call of Duty games are notorious for having at least one “shocking” campaign mission that pushes the edge. Some reports say that Black Ops 6 will include a mission based on the 9/11 terrorist attacks. So, is it true that we will experience a Black Ops 6 9/11?
Is there a possibility of a Black Ops 6 9/11 mission?
Treyarch has denied claims that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will consist of a 9/11 mission. The developers emphasized that Black Ops 6 is a “purely fictional story.” Beyond that, the fact that Black Ops 6 is set in the early 1990s makes it unlikely that the game would contain 9/11 without a substantial time leap.
Early in the Black Ops 6 hype cycle, rumors circulated that the game would address 9/11 in some way. Discussions began regarding whether it was acceptable for a game to address such a significant event in American history and if there was any genuine subtlety in doing so. It turns out that the game has nothing to do with September 11th, 2001.
Black Ops 6 Will Not Have a 9/11 Mission
So now we’re sure that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will not have a mission set during 9/11.
Call of Duty has never shied away from very contentious events in its campaigns. The most famous example is No Russian, a Modern Warfare 2 campaign objective in which players participate in a mass shooting at an airport. A more recent example is the 2019 Modern Warfare remake, which allowed players to kill bystanders during raids, including a newborn in a crib.
Black Ops 6 is set during the Gulf War (1991). Despite this, many people expected the game to contain a 9/11-related scenario. Why?
Well, many people on the internet have disseminated myths and conspiracies concerning the nature of the awful events of September 11. With a plot centered on conspiracies within the United States government, many people expected a 9/11 conspiracy to be incorporated. Fortunately, Treyarch knew better. With almost 3,000 casualties in the 9/11 tragedy, the corporation saw the disrespect that would result from having a purpose regarding the awful incident.
From what we have so far about the campaign, it appears like Black Ops 6 is prioritizing mission diversity above all else. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out, especially following MW3’s rather poor campaign. And if you want to grind out your account levels without having to spend hours in the game, you can opt for BO6 Boosting services. Stay tuned to find out when Black Ops 6 comes on October 25.
