How to Get the Unicorn in Adopt Me

The Unicorn is a Legendary pet in Adopt Me with a white body, pink horn, colourful mane, and matching tail. It first arrived with the 2019 Pets Update and remains obtainable today.

The current methods are hatching a Retired Egg or trading with another player. The older Cracked Egg, Pet Egg, and Royal Egg methods no longer work for the standard Unicorn.

Current method: The standard Unicorn can come from a Retired Egg or a player trade. It no longer hatches from the current Cracked, Pet, or Royal Eggs.

Method 1: Hatch a Retired Egg

The standard Unicorn moved to the Retired Egg on July 21, 2022. Cracked Eggs, Pet Eggs, and Royal Eggs now use a different pet pool, so buying those eggs will not hatch the original Unicorn.

The Retired Egg costs 600 Bucks and is found inside the VIP room of the Nursery. Players need access to that room before they can purchase it directly.

The 3% Legendary chance covers both Legendary pets in the Retired Egg pool. The individual chance of receiving the Unicorn is 1.5%, so several eggs may be needed before one appears.

How to Open a Retired Egg

  1. Enter the Nursery on Adoption Island.
  2. Access the VIP room.
  3. Purchase the Retired Egg for 600 Bucks.
  4. Complete the required pet tasks until the egg hatches.
  5. Repeat the process or trade for another egg if it does not hatch a Unicorn.

Buying more eggs creates more attempts, but it does not improve the 1.5% chance attached to each individual Retired Egg.

Other pet-collection games and supported Roblox services are organised through the main Roblox page.

Golden Unicorn: A Different Pet

The Golden Unicorn is not an upgraded form of the standard Unicorn. It is a separate Legendary pet with its own appearance and obtainment routes.

A Golden Egg can hatch a Golden Unicorn, Golden Dragon, or Golden Griffin. Receiving one does not count as hatching the standard white Unicorn from the Retired Egg.

Method 2: Trade for a Unicorn

Trading is the direct alternative to opening Retired Eggs. Use the built-in Adopt Me trade window and confirm that the standard Unicorn is still present before accepting the final offer.

  • Some players trade spare regular Unicorns after hatching duplicates.
  • Fly, Ride, Neon, age, and current demand can change the offer.
  • A balanced group of wanted pets may work better than several low-demand adds.

Before Accepting a Unicorn Trade

  • Compare recent offers for the same regular, Fly, Ride, or Neon version.
  • Check every pet again after the other player changes the offer.
  • Avoid trust trades and deals outside the official trade window.
  • Do not assume that every Legendary has equal demand.
  • Leave the trade if the other player pressures you to accept quickly.

Current demand matters more than rarity alone. The Adopt Me Pet Values Complete List can help you compare the Unicorn with other regular, Fly, Ride, Neon, and retired pets before making an offer.

Neon and Mega Neon Unicorns

A Neon Unicorn requires four Full Grown Unicorns. Its hooves, horn, and tail glow pink, while the mane glows pink, green, and yellow.

A Mega Neon Unicorn requires four Luminous Neon Unicorns, equal to 16 regular Unicorns. The same areas cycle through pink, purple, yellow, and teal.

Note: Neon and Mega Neon versions usually attract different offers from a regular Unicorn, so compare them separately.

Building a Neon or Mega Neon Unicorn requires several copies and full growth stages. Players comparing currently available versions can review the existing buy pet option before deciding between hatching, trading, or a listed pet.

Unlike the Unicorn, some limited pets have left their original event shops completely. The Cabbit Adopt Me A Complete Guide explains how that pet’s 2025 release and trading-only status differ from the Unicorn’s Retired Egg route

Retired Egg and Trading Tips

  • Save Bucks specifically for 600-Buck Retired Eggs.
  • Do not buy Royal, Pet, or Cracked Eggs expecting the standard Unicorn.
  • Use a trading server when you want a direct offer instead of another hatch attempt.
  • Compare regular, Fly, Ride, and Neon Unicorns separately.
  • Keep enough inventory space before hatching.
  • Confirm the pet and abilities during the final trade stage.

Final Thoughts

The standard Unicorn now comes from the Retired Egg or through trading. Each Retired Egg costs 600 Bucks and carries a 1.5% Unicorn hatch chance, while trading provides a direct route when you can find a suitable offer.

Check that you are comparing the correct Unicorn version, avoid outdated egg advice, and use the official trade window when dealing with another player.
