Bungie’s newest addition to the sci-fi gaming world, Marathon, has been the talk of the town ever since its release. At its launch, the first season of the FPS shooter game had plenty of content, maps, and modes. Unfortunately, the Marathon ranked mode was not part of the mix.
All we know about ranked mode’s launch to the game is that it is going to be released some time in the second half of March. Informed guesses from the community believe that 19th March or 26th March will be the official date of release. People are assuming that the mode will be released at 1 p.m. EST. This conclusion is based on the fact that the game was released at that time, and so was Server Slam.
Current Modes Available
Marathon is quickly gaining popularity amongst fans of sci-fi extraction shooters, even with the two modes currently available:
Core Extraction
A team of three players infiltrates the major zones of Tau Ceti to look for loot and explore the battlefield. You can fight other Runners too. Weapons boosting will help you get an upper hand in this mode.
Solo Mode
This is the same as Core Extraction, except you battle on your own. You will be faced with dangers from the environment and opponent Runners, so watch your back. Looking into solo beginner strategies can give you an edge.
Current Maps Available
Marathon launched with four maps that ranged from open wilderness to enclosed settings and congested laboratories.
- Perimeter
- Dire Marsh
- Outpost
- Cryo Archive
You can look into raid boosting for different maps, like Dire Marsh raid boosting to unlock top-tier loot without spending ages looking for materials in the vast zone.
Ranked Mode in Marathon
Marathon ranked mode is said to be an even deadlier hardcore version of the current modes available, with a hefty focus on PvP and PvE. There will be a good number of ranked ladders, and the more valuable loot you extract with, the faster you will progress in the game. It would be helpful to gain insight into beginner survival strategies before ranked mode launches, so you can be ahead of the curve when it does come out.
A recent ranked mode-related leak claims that players must make sure that their loadout aligns with the ‘gear ante’ or the value of their equipment to join Ranked. Players also need to buy a holotag which allows players to score rank points. These tags set specific score targets that need to be achieved in order to progress. They can be looted from other players as well.
The Ranks will be:
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Pinnacle
Each Rank will be made up of three subdivisions, such as, Bronze I, Bronze II, and Bronze III. Players that will rank up to Platinum and higher will be able to gain access to high-stake zones.
Conclusion
That sums up everything we know about Marathon ranked mode so far. This new mode is sure to make some waves when it launches in late March. Knowing the right tips and tricks to gather loot and extract safely will go a long way in helping you climb up the ranks.
