When you first begin your venture into the world of Marathon, only the CyberAcme or CyAc Faction will be available for you. This Faction is led by the all-powerful AI, ONI. You need to meet a few requirements before you can unlock factions in Marathon: progressing in the game, earning reputation, and unlocking different upgrades. Marathon Factions Explained
CyAc Faction
Since the Faction is already unlocked, you need to complete contracts and exfiltrate from runs successfully to gain reputation. You can earn rewards like ammo, torso implants, and backpacks when you rank up. If you want to skip the grind, you can buy material for sale instead.
NuCaloric Faction
The Liaison Contract for NuCal, which is a major food-slash-agriculture company in the Marathon universe, revolves around completing two tasks. Players need to find and get a hold of the NuCaloric Employee ID in a building near Overflow, and then install the Employee data from a nearby computer station.
Traxus Faction
This Faction can be unlocked by digitally hacking into the terminal present at Bio-Research, Complex, or Intersection. So, the next step in the Liaison Contract is to find the Shipping Manifest. Players should then scan shipping containers in the vicinity before they are collected.
MIDA Faction

Arachne Faction
The Liaison Contract for this mystifying cult Faction includes dealing 60 damage to your opponent Runners. You also need to fully take down a Runner on the opposing team. Looting other Runners will help you earn reputation in this Faction.
Sekiguchi Faction
The SekGen Faction can be unlocked by going to the Flight Control’s south side in search of the Necrotic Sample. Once you find it, your Runner will automatically inject it. After this step, you head to the southeast area of Orientation to be scanned, which verifies that you have been injected.
