Forza Horizon 6 is coming 2026 and that’s definitely with a lot of better features and mechanics. During the Xbox Games Showcase recently, Microsoft confirmed and made it clear that a new chapter in the franchise is on its way.
A month ago, Forza Horizon 5 released for PS5 meaning that it’s reaching the end of its update cycle. So, it’s time that Playground Games focus on delivering something bigger, in the shape of Forza Horizon 6.
Forza Horizon 6 Is Coming 2026 (Next Forza Announced)
Phil Spencer, the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, revealed “the next Forza” during Xbox’s 25th anniversary celebration in 2026. Although the declaration did not directly call out Horizon but the context leaves little ambiguity.
Forza Horizon 5 released initially in 2021 and remains supported actively with constant updates but it is also coming to its end. So, Forza Horizon 6 is well within the time frame and is being developed already at Playground Games.
The new installment breaks the usual 2-3 year gap. Instead, we’re looking at a five-year cycle between FH5 and FH6. This means Playground Games has more time and freedom to push boundaries in FH6
Japan as the Next Horizon Festival?
The most searched thing surrounding Forza Horizon 6 is where it takes place, and it’s Japan. It’s not official, but several clues point towards it being so.
Playground Games reactivated the iconic Fujimi Kaido track in 2025, which was a community favorite route based in Japan. Its reappearance already set off speculation that it was serving as a testing ground. Japan provides the perfect playground. There are mountain roads with narrow hilly passes and city streets bathed in neon lights with ocean roads as well as iconic drift zones.
The Forza Horizon series has seen destinations like the UK, Mexico, and Australia but Japan provides a culture of car tuning and drifting that fans have been calling for.
With titles such as JDM (Japanese Drift Master) and CarX Street feeding into this universe, things are heating up. However, only Forza can bring to the table a massive-scale, AAA open-world rendition of Japan complete with real-time weather and multiplayer support.
Platform Support and Release Plans
Forza Horizon 6 is coming 2026 and will release on Xbox Series X|S and PC. However, the Xbox One support seems extremely unlikely. The aging hardware just can’t cope with what’s in the works. For this reason, Playground Games can build a more detailed and larger map with next-gen fidelity. You can look for a Fall 2026 release, around October or November.
The 25th anniversary of Xbox falls in November 2026, so it’s an ideal celebration title. Although FH5 did end up on PlayStation 5, FH6 is likely to be Xbox and PC exclusive for a year, at least.
Game Pass subscribers can look forward to day-one access. It will be supported by Xbox Cloud Gaming, allowing players to stream it on nearly any device. This is important for accessibility, particularly for people who do not have high-end rigs.
No Reveal Yet, But the Signals Are There
In spite of expectation, FH6 didn’t show up at the 2024 reveal. The same occurred in early 2025. But then, in June 2025, Phil Spencer finally confirmed it on the behalf of Xbox.
We should agree that the delay doesn’t equal cancellation, it equals scope. Playground Games is now divided between two games.
One group is working on Fable, and the other group is solely working on FH6.
Job postings, developer rumors, and internal blueprints all point to active work. This extended hiatus is in line with Microsoft’s move towards longer dev cycles.
Titles such as Forza Motorsport, released later but refined, demonstrate the model in action. Forza Horizon 6 will probably tread along the same line: less quantity, better quality.
Car List and Driving Experience
Official car lists aren’t released, but the trend in FH5 provides hints. There has been a wave of JDM icons such as the Nissan Skyline R33 GTR and Toyota Supra as well as Honda S2000. These new additions fuel speculation that FH6 will focus more on drifting and street culture.
