Disney x Fortnite: Everything We Know So Far3 min read

Disney x Fortnite

Fortnite has gradually emerged as a center of popular culture. The game has worked with innumerable franchises, including Warner Bros. and Disney, since its debut.

And now, in a new development, it appears that Epic Games will shortly release a Disney game mode. A new Disney-powered metaverse experience was announced in early 2024, and Disney invested over a billion dollars in Fortnite creator Epic Games.

However, the project is still unknown, and Fortnite has not yet released the Disney x Fortnite metaverse mode. This article looks at everything we know so far.

What is the Disney x Fortnite mode exactly?

The truth is that we don’t know. No one is discussing it in ways that we would consider concrete, and there are no teaser pictures or videos available. However, Disney explained it as follows in the initial announcement:

“In addition to being a world-class games experience and interoperating with Fortnite, the new persistent universe will offer a multitude of opportunities for consumers to play, watch, shop and engage with content, characters and stories from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more. Players, gamers and fans will be able to create their own stories and experiences, express their fandom in a distinctly Disney way, and share content with each other in ways that they love.”

However, most of this is too vague to break down with any degree of certainty. This difference is because Disney x Fortnite will be its own content wall; not all Fortnite skins will be compatible with it, and some skins will only operate in the Disney mode and not in the rest of Fortnite.

Epic executive Saxs Persson said to The Verge in October 2024, “Not every outfit will be able to do everything. A [Lego] minifig doesn’t hold a gun. Brands should be able to enforce the brand guidelines to the degree that they’re comfortable with that brand being associated with particular ratings.”

Disney x Fortnite Gameplay

We still don’t have any concrete information on the actual experience of this Fortnite x Disney collaboration, despite the above remarks. Yes, they have hinted at some features, such as the ability to purchase Disney merchandise or watch Disney content in-game. Additionally, rumors suggest that the experience will at least partially take place in a digital version of the actual Disneyland park, which could mean you can ride those Disney rides in the game. It might feature a campaign to run through, as another leak makes reference to plot content and theatrical cutscenes.

Disney x Fortnite Release Date

We don’t have any reason to anticipate this Disney x Fortnite collaboration to launch this year. A recent Wall Street Journal report suggested it may take some time before everything comes together, given how ambiguous the details have been thus far.

There is no genuine reason to believe that the Disney x Fortnite project is nearing completion. Unless Epic has significantly improved its capacity to keep secrets recently, we can expect a debut in 2026 at the latest.

While waiting for this mode to release, fans can still stock up on Fortnite V-Bucks.

There hasn’t been any further information released on the appearance of the game mode other than the leaks. Further details about the Disney game mode will be available following the debut of the upcoming season this year.
