Updated June 2026: Endgame no longer requires Campaign completion and is currently free to play through the end of Season 5. Seasonal updates have also changed loadouts, death penalties, Skill Tracks, abilities, Operations, and long-term Operator progression.
The Campaign may end, but the fight across Avalon continues. Black Ops 7 Endgame is a replayable co-op PvE mode where squads complete Assignments, increase their Combat Rating, collect powerful skills, and extract before the session ends.
It combines an open-world Campaign setting with extraction mechanics, large-scale boss encounters, persistent Operator builds, and shared progression. However, Endgame has no PvP combat—every player in Avalon fights against AI-controlled enemies and the Guild.
BO7 Endgame
Endgame supports solo players and squads of up to four inside a shared session containing up to 32 players.
At launch, players unlocked it by completing the first 11 Co-op Campaign missions. Treyarch later removed that requirement, so you can now select Endgame without completing the story.
As of Season 4 Reloaded, the mode is also free to play through the end of Season 5. Free players can access it through the main Call of Duty menu or Warzone without purchasing BO7, although the Co-op Campaign itself remains separate.

The official Endgame launch overview explains the original Avalon, loadout, ability, Combat Rating, and extraction systems.
How the Endgame Works
Each deployment begins by selecting an Endgame Operator and their saved loadout.
You then enter Avalon by wingsuit and use the Tac Map to find:
- Assignments
- Activities
- Intel
- Workbenches
- Exposure zones
- World Events
- Operation objectives
- Glitch Fractures
- Exfil locations
Activities award gear, caches, equipment, weapons, and Combat Rating progress. As your power increases, you can move into more dangerous zones where enemies deal more damage and reward stronger loot.
Your squad may stay together or work near other squads during difficult objectives. Because the mode is fully cooperative, separate teams can join the same boss encounter without fighting one another.
The existing Avalon map breakdown provides more context on the city, regions, campaign locations, and how the setting connects to other BO7 modes.
Loadouts, Gear, and Field Acquisitions
Endgame uses a separate loadout for each Operator.
| Loadout Slot | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Main Weapon | Your chosen primary firearm and attachments |
| Melee Weapon | Close-range backup weapon |
| Field Acquisition | A weapon found in Avalon and successfully extracted |
| Field Equipment | Your selected tactical or lethal equipment |
| Major Ability | High-impact offensive, defensive, or support power |
| Minor Ability | Mobility, utility, resupply, or crowd-control tool |
| Saved Items | Extracted Scorestreaks and Self Revives where available |
Workbenches improve a weapon’s rarity and damage during the run. Field Acquisitions give you a second weapon that can remain attached to that Operator after a successful extraction.
Since Season 3, each Operator stores their own:
- Weapons
- Equipment
- Field Acquisitions
- Weapon rarity
- Extracted Scorestreak
- Extracted Self Revive
Changing Operators therefore means changing both the Combat Rating build and the equipment prepared for the next run.
The separate BO7 Zombies overview explains how its round-based weapon, Perk, and survival systems differ from Endgame’s extraction-focused loop.
Abilities Define Your Playstyle
Every Endgame loadout uses one Major Ability and one Minor Ability.
Major Ability Examples
| Ability | Main Use |
|---|---|
| Ballistic Shell | Deploys a shield that blocks enemy fire |
| Crash Cart | Revives nearby teammates and can self-revive |
| Active Camo | Temporarily conceals the Operator |
| War Machine | Fires a high-damage explosive round |
| Vision Pulse | Tags enemies through walls for the squad |
| Drone Pod | Deploys explosive attack drones |
| Thermal Spike | Creates a damaging area of flames |
| Death Machine | Provides a high-damage heavy machine gun |
Minor Ability Examples
| Ability | Main Use |
|---|---|
| Grappling Hook | Reaches rooftops and escapes pressure |
| Kinetic Jump | Launches the Operator upward and stuns nearby enemies |
| Flicker | Teleports a short distance |
| Supply Link | Restores squad ammo, armor, equipment, and ability charge |
| Black Hat | Hacks enemies, equipment, and vehicles |
| Aether Blade | Throws a projectile that seeks multiple targets |
| Psych Grenade | Creates a gas cloud that turns affected enemies against one another |
Choose abilities around your squad rather than giving every player the same setup. A support player may use Crash Cart and Supply Link, while an aggressive build may combine Death Machine with Grappling Hook or Kinetic Jump.
Leveling Up and Skill Tracks

Combat Rating represents an individual Operator’s Endgame power.
You increase it by:
- Completing Assignments
- Finishing activities
- Collecting intel
- Eliminating enemies
- Clearing World Events
- Advancing Operations
- Defeating bosses
As the rating increases, the game offers Skill Tracks and individual Skills. The original maximum was CR 60, although seasonal progression and Operator Prestige can extend the long-term build beyond the launch structure.
Current Skill Tracks
| Skill Track | Main Playstyle |
|---|---|
| Gunner | Reloading, aiming, weapon handling, and ammunition |
| Surgeon | Healing, revives, Last Stand, and squad survival |
| Daredevil | Wingsuit control, sliding, diving, and movement damage |
| Tactician | Equipment capacity, deployment, and ability recharge |
| Berserker | Fire rate, aggression, movement, and armor from kills |
| Bulldozer | Armor, explosive resistance, and close-range durability |
| Phantom | Stealth, rear attacks, melee speed, and trap avoidance |
| Eagle Eye | Critical damage, ranged accuracy, and damage chains |
| Warband | Summoned allies, converted enemies, and attack drones |
| Guardian | Damage resistance, resources, and proximity revives |
You do not manually choose every Track from a complete menu. At specific Combat Rating milestones, Endgame presents a limited choice between available Tracks or Skills.
Season 4 also introduced Endgame Operator Prestige. Prestiging a fully developed Operator resets their temporary build but can unlock permanent bonuses such as extra Exotic, Nightmare, or Skill Track slots.
Exotic and Nightmare Skills
Normal Skill Tracks are only one layer of the build.
Exotic Skills come from World Events. You can equip and upgrade one through Exotic Skill Cases, choosing whether to improve the current effect or replace it.
Examples include:
- Resurrection
- Celebration
- Echo Shell
- Frost Cloud
- Shattered Shield
- Conductive Shot
- Fission
Nightmare Skills come from Glitch Fractures and their bosses. These provide strong effects such as elemental rounds, emergency healing, allied drones, or converted enemies.
Examples include:
- Nova Strike
- Phoenix Burst
- Chaos Rounds
- Frost Vortex
- Wingman Unit
- Sleeper Agent
These high-value Skills do not automatically remain safe after a failed run, so an early extraction may be smarter than continuing into another dangerous activity.
How Exfil Works
Endgame sessions run on a timer. Before it expires, locate a friendly VTOL extraction point on the Tac Map.
To leave successfully:
- Travel to an active exfil location.
- Request the VTOL.
- Clear or survive the landing-zone encounter.
- Remain in the extraction area.
- Board before the aircraft leaves.
A successful extraction preserves the Operator’s current Combat Rating, Skills, loadout, and eligible collected items for the next deployment.
What Happens if You Die or Miss Exfil?
The launch version could reset the Operator to CR 0. That is no longer the normal 2026 rule.
Under the updated loss system:
- A wipe removes no more than 15 Combat Rating.
- Exotic and Nightmare Skills are lost.
- The Operator’s loadout resets.
- Run-specific acquisitions may be removed.
- A Restore Token can recover the lost build after elimination.
- Disconnect protection may preserve the Combat Rating held at deployment.
The current penalty still matters, but one failed run no longer automatically destroys every level earned across the Operator’s entire history.
Unified Progression
Endgame contributes to the same wider progression used throughout BO7.
Playing the mode can advance:
- Global Player XP
- Weapon Levels
- Battle Pass progress
- Daily and Weekly Challenges
- Campaign and Endgame challenges
- Weapon camo progress
- Seasonal events
- Operator and Operation rewards
Endgame has a dedicated Co-op Campaign camo track with Military, Special, and Mastery rewards. The final launch mastery path leads toward Genesis rather than the Multiplayer, Zombies, or Warzone mastery camos.
The existing BO7 camo challenge breakdown separates each mode’s requirements and weapon-skin path.
Promotional rewards remain separate from normal Endgame progression. Players checking those items can review the available Monster Energy reward codes.
Operations and Current Endgame Content
Endgame has expanded beyond its original random activities.
Operations provide multi-step objectives across several deployments. They can award:
- XP
- Double XP Tokens
- Operator skins
- Weapon camos
- Weapon Blueprints
- Calling Cards
- Restore Tokens
- Glitch Fracture access
Season 4 Reloaded introduced Operation King Killer, which sends players into Zone III and higher before a final Prime Target Glitch encounter.
It also added:
- Guardian Skill Track
- Psych Grenade Minor Ability
- Fission Exotic Skill
- Sleeper Agent Nightmare Skill
- New Operator skins
- New static and animated camos
The official Season 4 Reloaded Endgame details provide the current Operation objectives, rewards, and seasonal additions.
A Typical Endgame Run
You select 50/50, equip a reliable primary weapon, Ballistic Shell, and Grappling Hook, then enter Avalon through a wingsuit drop.
Your squad begins in a manageable zone and completes a convoy Assignment. The activity increases your Combat Rating and offers a Skill Track choice. After selecting Surgeon, you gain faster healing and revive support.
Next, the team visits a Workbench, improves weapon rarity, clears another activity, and joins nearby players for a World Event. An Exotic Skill Case grants Resurrection, giving you protection from one fatal hit.
At this point, you can either enter a harder exposure zone or protect the build by extracting. The second choice may offer fewer immediate rewards, but it preserves the Operator for the next deployment.
That risk-and-reward decision forms the core of Endgame.

Verdict
Black Ops 7 Endgame is a replayable co-op PvE mode built around increasing an Operator’s power, completing activities across Avalon, and extracting before the run collapses.
The current version is more forgiving than it was at launch. A failed run can still cost Combat Rating, loadout progress, and valuable Skills, but the 15-CR loss cap and Restore Tokens reduce the full-reset frustration.
Build each Operator carefully, match abilities to the squad, and extract before ambition turns a successful run into an unnecessary wipe.
Black Ops 7 Endgame FAQs
Do you need to complete the BO7 Campaign to unlock Endgame?
No. Endgame originally required completion of all 11 Campaign missions, but Treyarch removed that requirement in November 2025. It is now available directly from the Call of Duty menu.
Is Black Ops 7 Endgame free to play?
Yes, temporarily. As of June 2026, Endgame remains free to play through the end of Season 5. The free access does not include the full Co-op Campaign.
How many players can join an Endgame match?
Endgame supports up to 32 players in a shared PvE session. Players enter as solo Operators or squads containing up to four members.
Is there PvP in BO7 Endgame?
No. Endgame is cooperative PvE. Every player fights AI enemies and can assist other squads during assignments, World Events, and boss encounters.
What is Combat Rating in Endgame?
Combat Rating measures an individual Operator’s power. Completing activities, collecting intel, and defeating enemies raises it and unlocks Skill Tracks, Skills, and access to more difficult content.
Do you lose everything if you die in Endgame?
Not under the current rules. A wipe removes no more than 15 CR, but you still lose Exotic and Nightmare Skills and face a loadout reset unless a Restore Token protects the build.
Does every Endgame Operator share the same loadout?
No. Since Season 3, every Operator has an individual loadout containing weapons, Field Acquisitions, equipment, and saved extracted items.
What does a Restore Token do?
A Restore Token can recover the Skills, Combat Rating progress, and loadout that would otherwise be lost after an elimination.
Does Endgame level weapons and the Battle Pass?
Yes. Endgame awards global Player XP, Weapon XP, Battle Pass progress, challenge progress, and its own Campaign and Endgame camo rewards.
What is the difference between Endgame and Zombies?
Endgame uses a timed open-world extraction loop with Combat Rating and persistent Operator builds. Zombies centres on round progression, undead hordes, Perks, Pack-a-Punch, and map-specific quests.
