Black Ops 7 Wall Jump

Black Ops 7 beta players would’ve clearly noticed some massive changes to the game’s omnimovement feature. Black Ops 6 introduced the advanced movement system, allowing players to sprint, slide, and dive in almost any direction. However, Treyarch has made more changes to the upcoming title. Here’s everything to know about wall run not being a feature!

Black Ops 7 Omnimovement Sees Some Changes

Once you’ve got your Black Ops 7 Monster Energy bundle codes, you can start exploring the improved omnimovement system. The upcoming title is set to enhance the usual movement speed by reducing Tactical Sprint. They’ll also remove a player’s ability to ADS while jumping and sliding by default in Black Ops 7. You can activate both of these systems as Perks in the game.

On top of these changes, Treyarch has also added another significant improvement to movement,i.e., the wall jump. Players can now kick off from vertical surfaces and chain up to three jumps in a row. Many might be wondering why this wall-jump feature isn’t a wall run. You can explore and refine this feature in Black Ops 7 Bot Lobbies once the game launches.

Miles Leslie, the associate director, has explained why the feature isn’t a wall run. He blamed Black Ops 2 and Black Ops 3 for this. He said, “When we started development of Black Ops 7, we knew we wanted to pick up threads from Black Ops 2. Since we knew we were going back into that timeline, Black Ops 2 really gave us a foundation for the technology available.”

Black Ops 7 Settings

Black Ops 7 is set in 2045. This means it’s getting sandwiched between Black Ops 2 (set in 2025) and Black Ops 3 (set in 2065). Due to this, Treyarch claims that it had some very clear boundaries once it began considering how to push the enhanced omnimovement feature. Leslie says, “We are really precious to our own canon, we have to respect that.”

He continued, “So that meant we couldn’t have Thrust Jump, because the tech didn’t exist in 2035. Wall running made sense when we were further in the future but, with our return to the Black Ops 2 era, that world just didn’t have that sort of technology so it made sense not to do it.”

Black Ops 7 Wall Jump

Black Ops 7 Wall Jump introduces a certain level of verticality that wasn’t found in Black Ops 6. Chaining the movement also offers players brand-new ways to explore a map and opens unique flanking options. This is especially helpful in objective-based multiplayer games, including Hardpoint and Domination. Despite that, Leslie claimed that Treyarch has learned something from the system.

He says, “You can get so much higher now with the Wall Jump, so we took a lot of learnings from everything we did on Black Ops 3 – it was really important that we kept the combat in-frame.” He highlights the loss of inertia between every chained jump, claiming that it helps maintain some semblance of balance and also helps bring combat to ground level in an instant.

Conclusion

That’s all there is to know about what the devs have to say about there being no wall run feature in Black Ops 7. Until the game launches, you can jump into Black Ops 6 Warzone and unlock some brand-new Season 6 weapons to spice things up.
