What Is the BO7 Neon Gallows Camo?
Neon Gallows is the Animated Weapon Camo reward tied to Operation Broken Mirror, Act II of Black Ops 7 Endgame. However, you cannot unlock it with just one Aftershock Operator Skin. You must earn all three Aftershock Operator Skins to receive Neon Gallows.
Earning one Aftershock Operator Skin unlocks Braincase, while collecting all three unlocks the Neon Gallows Animated Weapon Camo. The three Aftershock skins are earned by defeating the Virus Injection Glitch Boss in the final part of Operation Broken Mirror while using the eligible operators.
Each operator completion gives their corresponding Aftershock Skin, allowing you to work toward the skin requirement for Neon Gallows.
| Camo | Requirement | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| Braincase Weapon Camo | Earn 1 Aftershock Operator Skin | Braincase Weapon Camo |
| Neon Gallows Animated Weapon Camo | Earn all 3 Aftershock Operator Skins | Neon Gallows Animated Weapon Camo |
So if you’re specifically grinding for Neon Gallows, one Aftershock skin isn’t enough. You need to complete the progression with all three eligible operators.
What You Need Before Starting
Before attempting to unlock the Aftershock Operator Skins, make sure Vermaak, Zaveri, and Jurado are owned on the same account. The reported requirement is that each Operator must be owned to earn that Operator’s respective Aftershock Skin. This means you should have all three Operators available before starting the grind.
Zone III scaling starts from Step 1, and a Combat Rating of 60 is also recommended. While official patch notes confirm the objective, the “ownership” requirement is a long-standing point of community debate. Earning a specific skin for an operator you do not own typically unlocks the operator.

However, to avoid wasting a high-stakes run, ensure you select Vermaak, Zaveri, or Jurado as your active operator before entering the match. If they are locked, attempting the mission without them will not grant the credit for that specific skin.

Tips to Clear the Virus Injection Glitch Boss Faster
You no longer need Thermal Spike specifically for the objective step. Any Major Ability, such as Vision Pulse, can now satisfy the requirement, so you can keep a stronger ability in your loadout instead of changing your build just for this step.

Recommended Loadout:
- XR3 Ion: Equip explosive bullets or suitable Sharpshooter/Shrapnel augments to maximise damage, particularly against the boss’s core.
- Major Ability: Use Vision Pulse or another Major Ability that fits your build. Thermal Spike is no longer mandatory.
- Defensive abilities: Ballistic Shield is useful for blocking incoming attacks, while Shatter Shield or Bubble Shield can provide additional protection.
- Perks: Bulldozer can help with explosive resistance, while Eagle-Eye increases critical damage and complements a headshot-focused build.
For a faster Virus Injection boss fight, maintain distance to avoid its glitch AoE waves and use Ballistic Shield when targeted by heavy incoming attacks. Focus your high-damage fire directly on the core to push through phases quickly before additional elite adds overwhelm the arena.
