Call of Duty Black Ops 6 Intensifies Xbox Game Pass Sales2 min read

Black Ops 6 on Xbox Gamepass

The US witnessed an array of fresh launches in October 2024. This month brought in fresh launches of the top 8 games. Yet, no title could surpass the success of Call of Duty and Black Ops 6, which debuted at No.1 with its inclusion in Xbox Game Pass.

Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6 Takes Over Sales!

Circana reports that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 experienced a boost in their video game sales by 10% year-over-year, reaching $4.7 billion. This analysis by Circana emphasises how Black Ops 6 has remained the top-selling game of the year so far. During its first two weeks, the game achieved a 23% increase in sales than Modern Warfare 3 during the same period last year.

PlayStation 5 Leads Full-Game Sales for Black Ops 6

It is worth mentioning that 82% of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 full dollar sales were through PlayStation 5. With the option to avail COD points to enhance their gameplay, most users purchased via Playstation, the numbers reflect full-game purchases. However, it was also reported that the industry-wide non-mobile video game subscription spending rose to 16% in October, mostly driven by Black Ops 6 contribution to new Game Pass subscriptions.

Dragon Ball: Sparkling Zero! Achieves Milestones

Next on the game chart was Dragon Ball: Sparkling Zero!, which now happens to be the fourth best-selling Dragon Ball title in U.S. history, Bandai Namco’s third best-selling Dragon Ball title in U.S. history and Bandai Namco’s third best-selling game ever, behind Elden Ring and Dark Souls 3.

Other Notable Highlights

Moreover, third place was taken over by the Silent Hill 2 remake, which has now officially declared the best-selling game in the series. Interestingly enough, it’s beaten by the original Silent Hill 2. On the other hand, Bio Ware’s Dragon Age: The Veilguard debuted at No.6, despite launching on the month’s final day just behind Plaion’s Undisputed at No.4 and Atlus’ RPG Metaphor: ReFantazio at No.5.

Meanwhile, many other titles were spotlighted on the US charts this month. The Final Fantasy I-VI Collection rose from No.90 to No.19 last month. This boost was most likely influenced by a recent sale on the Nintendo Switch, which went from $75 to $55 (the sale is ongoing). Furthermore, Sufi jumped from No. 502 over the last month to being included in Game Pass.

Hardware Sales Decline

If we look into hardware sales for this month, they are rather disappointing. The overall spending declined 23% year-over-year. Switch sales came down to 38%, sales decreased to 20%, and Xbox Series sales came down to 18%.

However, despite this decline, PS5 remains the best-selling console throughout unit and dollar sales, with Xbox in second place as the Switch bears the end of its lifeline. The PlayStation portal earned the best-seller title within the accessories, leading to a 15% rise in spending. It is worth mentioning that Black Friday sales have gone live, and what other time should you purchase if not now?
