This time, BO6 gameplay features an impressive curation of 33 weapons, including one brand-new addition to the series. Once players begin curating their preferred load-outs using a simplified weapons menu and gear up for the upcoming weapon leveling, it’s important to investigate various types of weapons and their unlock criteria and exploit the user-friendly gunsmith.
Primary Weapons
Players must gear up as various weapons await them in each category, including individual attachments for each primary weapon, which can be accessed as they level up in each weapon. The Gunsmith is accessible for all Primary Weapons. However, if you wish to attain a second primary weapon in the secondary weapon slot, players must utilize the Wildcard “Overkill.” They can choose from the following:
Assault Rifles (7)
SMGs (6)
Shotguns (2)
LMGs (3)
Marksman Rifles (4)
Sniper Rifles (3)
Secondary weapons
Generally reserved for emergencies or context-specific situations, your secondary weapon will be a backup to your primary weapon. With every primary weapon you choose, these weapons will be carried in addition to them; hence, it is advisable to pick something that will adjust well with your primary weapon. Running the Overkill wildcard will also allow players to attain two primary weapons. The Gunsmith is available for secondary weapons. They have the following options:
Pistols (4)
Launchers (2)
Melee Weapons
The third weapon is manufactured for close combat and lacks ranged ordnance. To get your Melee weapon, use the same button or key for regular melee attacks (on controllers, this is the Right thumbstick). Press the button for a quick melee strike with your gun, or hold it down to access your Melee weapon, which will remain with you until it’s switched back to your Primary or Secondary weapon. Moreover, the weapon cycle options allow players to utilize the weapon swap button to switch between Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons if needed. The gunsmith is also available for melee weapons but is limited to cosmetic customizations. You can choose from:
Knife
Baseball Bat
Player levels: Weapon Unlock Criteria
The entire launch weaponry in Black Ops 6 has specific unlock criteria, and this is tied to your Player Progression (accessed via the Progression tab in the Barracks Menu). As players enter the game, they can access experience points to help unlock weapons upon reaching a particular player progression level. One weapon for each category is always available in Default Loadouts, with the remaining weapons becoming accessible as players advance through the levels.
