BF6 M4A1

Finishing Battlefield 6’s campaign can put new cosmetics, weapon packages and XP Boosters into your multiplayer inventory, but it does not replace multiplayer leveling.

That distinction is the answer most players need before spending hours replaying story missions. Campaign progress has its own Challenges and rewards. Career Rank, weapon and vehicle Hardware XP, seasonal Battle Pass progression and most functional multiplayer unlocks belong to Battlefield 6’s online progression loop.

So if you want attachments and rank locked hardware, play Multiplayer, REDSEC or eligible Portal experiences. If you want campaign exclusive rewards, complete the story, collectibles and Campaign Challenges. EA explicitly confirms that Campaign missions, specific tasks and collectibles can unlock rewards usable in Multiplayer.

EA’s current progression guide identifies Multiplayer, REDSEC and Verified Portal Community Experiences as the places where Career, Hardware and Battle Pass XP are earned. Career Rank unlocks functional hardware through Rank 50, while weapon and vehicle use generates separate Hardware XP for attachments and equipment.

What Campaign Unlocks Actually Carry Into Multiplayer?

The campaign is still worth playing if you care about multiplayer customization.

There are nine story missions, with rewards coming from mission completion, special Campaign Challenges and the 30 collectible Dog Tags hidden across the story. The full campaign mission and reward structure also shows why simply reaching the credits does not collect everything.

Campaign rewards include items such as:

  • soldier skins and characters;
  • player card titles, icons and backgrounds;
  • Dog Tags;
  • weapon camos;
  • XP Boosters;
  • weapon packages;
  • a vehicle camo;
  • the Bighorn HK-16 melee weapon.

Completing Always Forward, for example, grants the Bighorn HK-16 and Carnivore RPKM Weapon Package, while the optional challenge track includes rewards such as Polar Nexus and XP Boosters. Collecting all Campaign Dog Tags also unlocks additional multiplayer cosmetics.

If those campaign specific unlocks are what you want and replaying missions or difficulty requirements is the bottleneck, you can Explore Battlefield 6 Campaign Boost for individual missions or the full story on your chosen difficulty. The current service is built around Campaign completion and its associated unlocks rather than pretending story missions will raise your multiplayer Career Rank.

Campaign XP Boosters Are the Bridge Between the Modes

This is where the two systems connect more directly.

Certain Campaign Challenges award Career XP or Hardware XP Boosters. The campaign gives you the consumable, then you use that boost while playing the online modes where the corresponding XP actually matters.

For example, campaign collectible and challenge rewards include both Career and Hardware XP Boosters. Hardware XP then contributes to individual weapon or vehicle progression, while Career XP advances the account rank and rank gated unlocks.

That makes Campaign useful before a multiplayer grind, but the Campaign itself is not the grind.

If you earn a Hardware XP Booster from Campaign, activate it when you are ready to spend a focused session on one weapon rather than burning the timer between different loadouts. The Battlefield 6 weapon leveling guide covers the online side once you switch modes.

What Only Multiplayer Leveling Unlocks

If the item you want is tied to Career Rank or Weapon Mastery, Campaign completion will not bypass it.

Career progression currently provides functional unlocks through Rank 50. These include weapons, grenades, gadgets and extra loadout slots. EA’s current list includes examples such as the M4A1 at Rank 2, B36A4 at Rank 14, LMR27 at Rank 16 and TR-7 at Rank 50.

Weapon progression is separate again. Using a weapon earns Hardware XP, while eliminations and other qualifying actions increase it faster. Raising that individual Hardware Rank unlocks attachments, camos and Weapon Packages.

So your route depends on the reward:

Need a Campaign skin or collectible reward? Play Campaign.

Need a rank locked gun or gadget? Earn Career XP online.

Need scopes, magazines and barrels? Use the weapon and earn Hardware XP.

Need seasonal Battle Pass rewards? Progress through online XP and Challenges.

For attachment specific progression, the BF6 weapon attachments guide gives the more relevant route than replaying story missions.

Which Mode Is Faster for Leveling?

For actual account and weapon leveling, Multiplayer wins by default because that is where the progression systems operate.

You can earn Career XP through kills, assists, revives, squad spawns, spotting, class actions, objectives and match completion. Hardware XP comes from using weapons and vehicles, with combat performance accelerating the gain. Battle Pass XP is earned alongside Career XP at the current 1:1 XP relationship described by EA.

That means a Support player reviving and resupplying around a Breakthrough objective can continue progressing even without leading the lobby in kills.

If Career Rank rather than campaign content is your target, the Battlefield 6 Account Level Boost is the related service built for that progression path, rather than Campaign Boosting.

The Efficient Way to Combine Both Modes

You do not need to choose one mode permanently.

A clean progression route is:

  1. Complete the nine Campaign missions once.
  2. Grab obvious Dog Tags during the first playthrough.
  3. Replay short missions for missed collectibles and Campaign Challenges.
  4. Claim any Career or Hardware XP Boosters you earned.
  5. Move into Multiplayer or REDSEC for Career Rank.
  6. Focus on one weapon when spending Hardware XP Booster time.
  7. Return to Campaign only for specific rewards you still want.

Campaign collectibles are replayable, so missing one Dog Tag does not require restarting the story. Guides tracking all 30 collectible locations can make those cleanup runs considerably faster.

One More Carryover Players Often Confuse

Mode carryover and cross platform progression are different things.

Campaign rewards that unlock multiplayer content belong to your game progression. Separately, Battlefield 6 supports cross progression through your EA Account, with rank, unlocks and Battle Pass rewards carrying across supported platforms.

That does not mean Campaign Career XP transfers into Multiplayer. It means your existing account progression follows the linked EA Account across supported systems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Battlefield 6 Campaign level up your multiplayer rank?

Yes. Campaign missions, Challenges and collectibles unlock items including character skins, player card cosmetics, Dog Tags, XP Boosters and Weapon Packages for use in Multiplayer.

How many collectibles are in the BF6 Campaign?

There are 30 collectible Dog Tags across the nine missions. Individual missions have collectible based multiplayer rewards, and collecting all 30 awards the Winner Take All Dog Tag.

Campaign is useful if you want its exclusive rewards, story and XP Boosters. If your immediate goal is Career Rank, weapon attachments or Battle Pass progression, move into Multiplayer, REDSEC or eligible Verified Portal experiences instead.
