Embark Studios’ ARC Raiders is not just a game you play to cool off with your friends. This extraction shooter game is a whole experience. You are dropped in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by killer machines from outer space known as ARCs. This might sound cool, but if you do not know how to accurately take down your hostile mechanical opponents, you are toast.
Major ARC Types and Their Weaknesses
There are four major types of enemy machines in ARC Raiders.
Heavy-Armor ARC Units
These are the highest-threat machines in ARC Raiders, and they require a ton of firepower to overcome.
- ARC Surveyor
These are massive rolling spheres that patrol the maps. The easiest way to defeat these is to damage them enough that their armored plates fall off. This will let you target their exposed core, which is their weak point.
- Leapers and Bastions
Both of these ARCs are high-level threats in the game. For Leapers, aim for their ‘eyes’ or their exposed leg joints. Shooting at all the plates on their legs can immobilize them, making them easier to destroy. Bastions, unlike Leapers, move slowly. These require team coordination to be taken down effectively. One player in the squad should draw the Bastion’s attention, while others aim for its weak points like kneecaps and the back cylinder. Make sure you stay behind to avoid being killed.
- Queens
Queens are the apex predators of ARC Raiders. If you find yourself face-to-face with a Queen, the only way to take it down is to form a coordinated attack plan with your squad. Their main weak spot is on their heads, but getting there requires shooting at their leg joints. You need to have top-notch weapons to get out of a fight with a Queen unscathed, so buy weapons for sale if you do not own the right ones.
Low-level Ground Units
These ARCs cannot fly, so they are usually low-level threats in the game. You can easily take down Ticks and Pops by attacking them once with a melee weapon. Try to get them quickly before they form an attack. Coins boosting will give you enough coins to secure any weapons you might need for this.
Flying Drones
Wasps and Hornets are not much of a threat and can be taken down easily if you know where to hit them. For Wasps, their weak points are their thrusters. Hit the two thrusters on their chassis to destroy them. Hornets have four thrusters: two armored ones in the front and two exposed ones in the rear. Aim for their rear thrusters to cause lasting damage. Snitches are dangerous opponents, but they have three delicate thrusters that can be destroyed to take them down.
Defense Units
Turrets and Sentinels are stationary machines that stop you from accessing an area. Movement tricks are your best friend when you come face to face with these. Dodge roll, jump, and crouch to avoid being caught by them. Their one weakness is the miniature capsule on their gun housing. One precise hit renders them disabled.
Conclusion
Mastering how to take down the major ARC types in ARC Raiders is half the battle. Once you know the weak points of your mechanical opponents, you should be able to scan for loot and go about your extraction journey with ease. Remember to always stay hidden until you see an opportunity to attack arise.
