Let’s face it: If you’ve ever played Forza Horizon 5, you can’t forget the grind. Players had to hunt through hedgerows and search rooftops for 50 Fast Travel Boards, only to discover they still needed to purchase a property before they could travel around the map without additional fees. It was the most frustrating grind in the franchise to date.
Thankfully, Playground Games decided to put all of that behind. In their newest adventure, set in the rain-slicked streets of a neon Japanese cityscape, FH6 has made the entire process of travel completely different. Fast travel is now free from the second you begin exploring. However, destinations must be unlocked through exploration before they can be selected.
This article will explain how to get free fast travel in FH6.
The Exploration Requirements
There is a minor catch to note here, though. You cannot simply choose a distant mountain summit and teleport there immediately. To use this feature to travel to a location on your map, you must first explore that road by actually driving down it.
While looking at your map screen, pay careful attention to the colors displayed on your road system. While viewing the map, unexplored roads appear grey. These roads cannot be selected for fast travel. Once you drive on a road in free roam, it becomes permanently unlocked and can be selected for fast travel at any time.
Steps For Teleporting
Teleporting yourself from one end of the map to another can take just a few seconds after you’ve done the initial legwork. It’s best to spend at least the first couple of hours traveling on major highways, creating a shortcut system for yourself in the process.
- Pull over and exit any active event.
- Open the World Map from the Campaign tab.
- Select an explored road, event start location, owned player house, or festival outpost.
- Choose the Fast Travel option displayed on screen.
- Confirm your destination.

Fast Travel Locations
It’s not like you’re restricted to dropping your car on whatever patches of asphalt come your way. In FH6, there is the option for you to target any point of interest that you have discovered, which allows you to teleport to race registration markers or head right back home.
In short, Forza Horizon 6 actually starts to treat your time with respect. While exploring the beautiful roads of Japan will continue to be rewarding, once you’ve visited a street once, it will remain there as a permanently available fast travel point.

Final Words
Forza Horizon 6 dramatically simplifies fast travel compared to previous entries in the series. There are no Fast Travel Boards to collect and no expensive property purchases required. Simply explore the roads you want to revisit, and they become permanent fast-travel destinations. The more of the map you discover, the more convenient travel becomes, making exploration rewarding without forcing players into unnecessary grinding.
